On the 31st of May 2017 Orange (EE) will be closing down some of their email services. If you are affected by this closure and you do not act, you won’t be able to access your emails anymore. They will be deleted. You will also no longer be able to send or receive emails from your Orange Email address.

Customers who are affected by this should have, by now, received an email from EE explaining everything, but here is the gist. The email services associated with the following email address endings will be closed:

  • freeserve.co.uk
  • fsbusiness.co.uk
  • fslife.co.uk
  • fsnail.net
  • fsworld.co.uk
  • fsnet.co.uk
  • orange.net
  • orangehome.co.uk
  • wanadoo.co.uk

What do you need to do?

If you don’t use one of these emails then you don’t need to do anything, but if you do, there are a few things you need to take care of:

  1. Create a new email account with a different provider, either a free one e.g. Gmail (available through google.co.uk) or a paid for email, where you can pick your own address. (i.e. Fred@choosethisbit.co.uk)
  2. Back up any important emails. The easiest way to do this is to forward them onto an alternative email address (see step 1).
  3. Move your email address list over to your new email.
  4. You may have used your Orange email address as a username or contact address for other services (e.g. Amazon), so you will need to let these services know your new address. Here is a handy list for you to refer to: http://ee.co.uk/content/dam/ee-help/Help-PDFs/checklist-for-changing-email-log-ins-and-notifications.pdf
  5. Email all your contacts with your new address.
