Happy New Year! The festivities are behind us and we are all getting back into the routine. Resolutions have been made and broken! In a break from tradition this year I am not offering you any PC related resolutions. Instead I thought I would share some computer tips.

BT Email Printing Problems?

If you use BT email, and get frustrated that when you go to print out an email you get the wrong columns printed and half your message cut off you might be using the incorrect print button. While looking at the email click on the “+Actions” button, above the email, and choose print off the menu that appears (see image below).

Opening Links in new tab.

Some times when you are searching on the internet, you want to follow a link but open it on a new page. Many people do this by right clicking on the link and selecting “open in new tab”. A faster way is to hover over the link and press down the scroll button on your mouse.

Use Private Browsing

The uses for not having cookies and history saved are obvious for certain activities, you know, like shopping for gifts on a shared computer. Pressing Ctrl + Shift + N will launch a new private page in Chrome, Ctrl + Shift + P will do it in Firefox and Internet Explorer. When you close the page down it won’t be saved in your history and your deeds will be kept secret.

Scrolling on web pages

If you suffer from mouse co-ordination problems, you can simply scroll down a web page by pressing space bar.
