The internet has revolutionised the way we watch television. These days it is no longer necessary to remember to set the video recorder as now we can visit the respective TV channels’ website and watch the programme we missed.

The main stations all have their own watch back service BBC ITV Channel 4 and if you subscribe to SKY or Virgin you can access their catch up content through the website or by plugging your broadband router into the back of your set top box.

If your television is too far away from your router you can buy a fantastic gadget called a Power LAN Adapter. This turns your electric wires into an Ethernet cable and with a special adapter you can turn any normal electric socket into a network port.  This cable can also be plugged into your Smart TV so you can access the Internet from your TV. (Some Televisions even have wireless internet connecting ability built in).

It is also possible now to rent movies through your TV and broadband connection using a service like Netflix or Love Film. These two companies often have free trial offers that you can take advantage of. Similarly SKY and Virgin offer a pay per view service and so does the ITV Player.

If you own a Tesco Clubcard you can sign up to watch free films at www.clubcardtv.com but you do have to watch adverts, just like commercial television.

Finally to clarify, you do NOT need a television licence to watch programmes on the iPlayer if they have already been shown on TV. You DO need a TV licence if you are watching a live broadcast on the internet.
